Power consumption
I installed this clock in the console of a BMW R100S to replace the failed factory clock.
Fits perfectly and was easy to install. I got the matching voltmeter and together they
look great. One fatal problem though... the clock draws .5v constantly. The customer
reported his battery was nearly dead and wouldn't start the bike after a few days of sitting idle. A check of the charging system revealed no problems. After checking the entire wiring and electrical system, I finally disconnected the clock. Bingo! That was the only draw on the battery when everything was turned off. So, the claim of "ultra low" power consumption is exaggerated. The stock BMW clock never drains the battery, even after weeks of sitting idle. Maybe the AutoMeter clock I received had a defect. Beware and test yours before installing.
