DESCRIPTION:

SENSOR, OIL PRESSURE, 0-100 PSI, 1/8" NPT MALE, FOR SHORT SWEEP ELEC.

A bad oil pressure sensor cannot trigger the warning light when there's low oil or an oil leak. A bad sensor is unable to detect the difference between high oil pressure and low oil pressure. Do not wait for severe damage to your engine. Replace a faulty oil pressure sensor to immediately detect low oil pressure and avoid overheating.

AutoMeter's accurate engine oil pressure reading sends a signal to your oil pressure gauge on the dash to alert you of the problem.  Check out Autometer's engine oil pressure sensor feature points below.

Feature Points
  • Sensor Body Materlal - Plated steel
  • Thread size - 1/8 in. NPTF
  • Includes 1/4 in. NPT adapter bushing.
  • Measures 3.25 in. long from end of threads to tip of sensor stud and 2 in. in diameter.
  • Not compatible with fuel.

REVIEWS:

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have had 2 that have failed My first one worked great for about 4 years. Then it started pegging out over 100psi when running. Key on engine off reads over 60psi. I replaced the sender spring 2019. It worked normally for about a month. Now doing the same, reading way higher than normal even with key on engine off. With key off gauge reads 0. Disconnect sender, key on gauge reads 0. Guess I'll have to order another...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 0 TO 100 POUNDS PRESSURE TRANSDUCER I HAVE USED AUTO METER FOR ALMOST 19 YEARS AND LIKE THEIR PRODUCTS. THERE SHOULD BE A NOTE ON INSTALLATION THT THE SENDING UNIT NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED WITH ELECTRICAL CONNECTION UP SO FLUID CONNECTION IS DOWN. THE HOUSING SEAL TO THE UNIT IS NOT LIQUID TIGHT. SINCE MINE IS UPSIDE DOWN I SEALED THE JOINT WITH A SEALANT SO HOPEFULLY IT WILL NOT ALLOW FLUIDS TO ENTER THE MODULE.

QUESTIONS:

Can the 2242 sender be adjusted to calibrate with a mechanical sensor please?

Asked by: kiwi
Here are the specs for your 2242: https://www.autometer.com/sensor_specs There is no way to calibrate an out of spec sensor, it would have to be replaced.

What size is the nut that holds the wire? Trying to remove and can't quite get a wrench on it?

Asked by: LAW1952
The nut is officially a 10-32 x 3/8, so 3/8 would be correct.

Any recommended brand of thread sealer? Like a Permatex?

Asked by: LAW1952
There is no recommendation. However that will work perfectly fine.

Can this be installed with Teflon tape, or will that not allow a ground?

Asked by: LAW1952
We generally advise against using Teflon tape since the sending unit does need to ground through the threads. You can use a small amount of liquid thread sealer if needed.
