I just received a 2301 tachometer in the mail and the needle is at 900 rpm in the box. Is this normal? I didn't want to open it if it is defective.Hi, thank you for the question. Yes, this is normal. Our tachometers feature an Air-Core meter movement, which is electronically zeroed and controlled when power is supplied. This is what keeps our tachometers accurate and responsive for their lifetime.Date published: 2018-08-17
Hi does this gauge rotate in the mounting bracket so it can be fitted under the dash? Hi Richard, thank you so much for contacting us. Unfortunately this tach does not rotate and will need to be mounted on top of the dash or column. You can use something like these tachs from the AutoMeter line that do rotate for under dash mounting: https://www.autometer.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=traditional+chrome+tach+pedestal#1&profile=products Hope this helps!Date published: 2018-07-05
will this work on a 2003 big dog pitbull motorcycleHi Andy, thank you for the question. It will likely not work due to the calibration, but we would not recommend it simply because it's not intended for use on a motorcycle. We have several motorcycle specific tachometers in our Pro-Cycle line: https://www.autometer.com/gauges/pro-cycle.html#1&profile=productsDate published: 2019-05-12
