QUESTIONS:

I live in Oregon, Illinois. Can I purchase a tachometer from Auto Meter in Sycamore or do I have to order thru mail ?

Asked by: Dougsride
Currently we are not taking any walk-ins due to COVID-19. Unfortunately all local customers will still need to get items shipped out for orders or shipped in to us for repairs.

I bought a used 2301 Autogauge tach.  When I removed the rear cover to set for 4 cyl, the green wire broke off the circuit board.  I believe it hooks to the same post as the black ground wire.  If not where should it go? The tach has a round circuit board

hi have a 12v electrical system n my 1940 pickup, with a volage reducer feeding 6v to the coil, will this tach work or read correct on my vehicle thanks jim.

Asked by: james40
Hi James, Our tachometers are designed to be triggered by the 12 volt square wave at coil negative. Your coil will be producing a 6 volt square wave and may be below the trigger threshold of this tachometer. We cannot recommend use of this tachometer with your 6 volt coil. Thanks, Jim

Thank you for your question. Yes, it should work just fine with the tach output from the MSD 6A.

Is this considered a voltage triggered tach or current.

Asked by: Rick3
Thank you for your question. All our tachs are voltage triggered tachs and will work off the negative side of your ignition coil.

Can I use this tack in my doom buggy with a 1600 mL four-cylinder

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. This tach is certainly compatible with a four-cylinder engine. As long as you can supply 12v power, ground, and you have a tach output or can connect the tach to the negative side of the coil, it should work for you.

I just received a 2301 tachometer in the mail and the needle is at 900 rpm in the box. Is this normal? I didn't want to open it if it is defective.

Asked by: Manicmech
Hi, thank you for the question. Yes, this is normal. Our tachometers feature an Air-Core meter movement, which is electronically zeroed and controlled when power is supplied. This is what keeps our tachometers accurate and responsive for their lifetime.

Hi does this gauge rotate in the mounting bracket so it can be fitted under the dash?

Asked by: Richard stacey
Hi Richard, thank you so much for contacting us. Unfortunately this tach does not rotate and will need to be mounted on top of the dash or column. You can use something like these tachs from the AutoMeter line that do rotate for under dash mounting: https://www.autometer.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=traditional+chrome+tach+pedestal#1&profile=products Hope this helps!
