Description
Transmission fluid temperature is the single biggest contributing factor to the lifespan of your automatic transmission. Having an accurate, realtime measurement allows you to know when to downshift or when to take your foot out of it. Whether you’re towing or simply trying to harness the power of a built or boosted motor, AutoMeter’s Trans Temp Gauge will give you the most accurate possible measurement for the exact temp of your trans fluid. A single wire 1/8” NPT temperature sender included to be installed in your transmission, transmission pan or with an optional transmission cooler line manifold is available for easy installation into a transmission cooler hard line.

Questions

WHERE DOES THE TEMP SENSOR MOUNT IN A 4R100 TRANS

Asked by: davedieselguy
Hi Dave, thank you for the question. There is usually not a specific port on the transmission for temperature. Some later models may feature a pressure port that may accept our electric sender, otherwise we offer a transmission temp manifold that allows you to "T" into your tubing that is running to the cooler. Those models are available in 2 tubing size options under 2286 and 2287.

I have this guage, any idea why it reads 150 when cold, and is maxed out after afew mins of driving. Checked actual temps and the guage is 150 off

Asked by: Nathan,
Hi Nathan, thank you so much for contacting us. By far the most common reason you'll see this is inadequate gauge grounding. I would recommend making sure the gauge's ground wire is connected to either the engine block or a chassis rail. I would also not recommend tying the gauge ground in with the gauge light ground (we separate out those intentionally). This fixes it 99% of the time. For a much more detailed rundown on a short sweep gauge reading high, check out this article we wrtoe: https://www.autometer.com/resources/index/faq_view/id/11 Hope this helps!
