The literature says the SB-300 determines the battery's state of health (three categories). I would like to know: what are the details for making that determination? Instinctively, I distrust anything that gives good/bad verdict.

Thank you for your inquiry. The SB-300 Uses a microprocessor to apply a pulsed 40 amp load to the battery, Using data derived from this as well as measuring battery temperature, a proprietary series of calculations determines battery condition.

Can a older model be updated from 2.5 v ? The tester that I have doesn't have a option available for AGM type battery or change from CCA to AH ratings.

I have a auto meter BVA-300. How do I determine the batterie's temperature? The meter ask for the battery temperature when performing the battery test.

Thank you for your inquiry. When using the BVA-300, you simply estimate and enter ambient temperature. So for example if the battery is still in the vehicle, and it has been sitting outside in 32 degree weather, that is the temperature you would enter.

Hi ..we use numerous Odessey PC1800-FT AGM (CCA 1300), 214 Ah batteries in our broadcast vehicles. Which of your testers would give us a reasonable idea of general condition, life remaining etc.?

Hi Dave, thank you for the question. The SB-300 will provide the tests you're looking for. If you're looking to test starter draw or alternators, then you'd want to look at other models like the BVA-300.
