Questions

Is it possible to use this to convert a signal from a classic outboard motor magneto-type ignition system? Specifically I am looking at a 1958 35 HP Johnson outboard motor.

Asked by: Classic Boat Motor Owner
GREAT Question, I was also looking at the AquaGuide Tach model 676,685,690,699 and 2029 for the mag CD ignition in the Evinrude/Johnson outboards are getting so hard to find on eBay. I was also hoping this would work. back to looking around still.

Purchased 9118 mag signal converter. I have vertex internal mag no external coil magneto. Will this work and convert mag pulse to electronic tach?

Asked by: Maxdudy
Hi there, thank you so much for connecting with us. Many years ago we did list the internal coil mag as compatible with this 9118 adapter, but due to very mixed results, we had to officially drop the internal coil mag from the compatibility list. It's possible that you may have some success, but we can make no guarantees. There was never a concern over damage, but more of an erratic, electronic noise issue on the tachometer.
