QUESTIONS:

Should this work with a Cirello Franenstien Mag

Asked by: Rat1089
If this is an external mag, like a super mag, then yes. If this is an internal mag, shoot us an email for more information.

Can this converter be used to power an Airguide #1023 tach, on my 1960 Mercury Merc 400 magneto engine?

Asked by: Tripacer4
We couldn’t say for sure, but it’s highly unlikely. Our magneto signal converter is specifically designed to operate one of our tachometers on an external coil magneto race ignition, like a Mallory Super Mag or Vertex OXC Mag.

I have an early diesel with an ISSPRO Sensor (ac signal per them). It is a 2 wire sensor and my gauge is a single wire gauge, I'm assuming it grounds through the other gauges. Will this provide a signal for my Tach?

Asked by: 83dieselK5
Thank you for your question. The only way to obtain a signal off of a diesel using a non diesel style tachometer from us would be P/N:9112.

Hello, I have a 1962 Mercury 500 4 cylinder outboard motor that uses a Kiekhaefer (Mercury) 4D-3 magneto with an internal coil. It appears this unit will work for me and will adapt any of your tachs for use with my motor? Thanks!

Asked by: Brian 1962 Merc 500
I submitted the question before reading the other posted questions... in reading those I see that this unit isn't recommended for vintage magnetos using an internal coil due the the noise issue that you mention. Other sources I've researched say that it might work but that Autometer doesn't market the 9118 as compatible due to noise issues. I'm interested in a tach but purchasing the 9118 and a tach is a lot to risk for something that MIGHT work... will you accept returns in the event it doesn't? Thanks, Brian

Hi, I also have a vertex internal coil (IAC) mag and wish to connect to a regular autometer tach. I have a new old stock mag signal converter that fixes to the outside of the mag with a band clamp. Autometer used to sell them. Will this work with the mag?

Asked by: Rugrat
Jim, re-read my question. I didn’t ask whether  the 9118 will work. I said I have an early signal pick up sold by autometer many years ago that is still new. Did these work on the vertex mag  or do you not know of them? Thanks.
