What Works BEST:
For reliable performance with your electric gauges, we recommend grounding to:
- The engine block/cylinder head/intake manifold
- The vehicle frame
These grounding points typically offer lower resistance and better continuity back to the battery ground, especially when cleaned and secured properly.

Common Grounding MISTAKES:
Some of the most common improper grounding locations we see include:
- Dash ground or a shared dash circuit
- A random bolt on the firewall or interior metal
- Tapping into an existing ground wire (especially on older vehicles)
- Grounding to a painted or rusty bracket using an insulated connector and old hardware
While these might be technically “grounded,” they often don’t provide a clean, uninterrupted ground, and that’s where problems start. Electrical noise, poor continuity, or resistance buildup can create signal instability.

- Use a star washer and test for <0.2 ohms resistance
