What does "air-core" mean?In a conventional meter movement, a tiny electrical winding produces needle rotation against a spring that returns the needle to zero. An Air-Core movement has no connection to the needle, nor is there a return spring. Instead, electronics in the meter produce a magnetic field to which the needle aligns itself.
