QUESTIONS:

can I run this on a points magneto

Asked by: Terry7222
Thank you for your question. It depends of the coil is internal or external. If it has an external coil, yes, it is compatible. If it has an internal coil, then no, it will not be compatible.

Would this work for a 1998 Honda Civic CX?

Asked by: Joanne
Hi Joanne, Thank you for the question. Yes, the 233904 should work on the 1998 Civic. We have the following details for installation - Blue wire (no stripe) at distributor, or blue wire at tachometer test connector located at inner driver's fender near the firewall. Set as 4 cylinder-2 pulse.

Can you program the shift light to work for 2 different RPM gear changes ? say like, 6000 rpm & 6500 rpm ?

Asked by: NSSracer
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, this tachometer is only capable of having one shift point.

Will it work on a 2 cyl. Harley

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. No, this will only calibrate down to a 4 cylinder 2 pulse application and it will not work on your Harley.

hello, does it fit on a harley davidson softail 1340cc 1997? thx

Asked by: pepe_lagra
Thank you for your question. This tach is made for automotive use, and is not recommend for motorcycle use as it is not water resistant. We would recommend using our Pro-Cycle series tachometers. Our #19467 is actually made to fit a '97 softtail.

installing this model (233904) shift light tacho into my mid 80s rx7 that has the 13brew engine swap running the Haltech Sprint RE ecu.. do I have to snip the wires? what setting? I dont see any, does the cover come off the tach?

Asked by: DWNUNDR
Thank you for your question. While we do not know all the details of your specific application, the 80s RX7 was a 4 cylinder two pulse, so you would cut the brown and orange wires on your tach to calibrate it appropriately.

Does this tach require a 5V input signal? i am wanting to use it with a standalone EFI system and that is the only signal the CPU provides as an output

Asked by: mjones0512
Thank you for the question. The 233904, along with basically all of our tachometers, requires 12V for power and the signal is a 0-12V square wave. Often, they will trigger down to a 5V square wave, sometimes a "pull up" resistor may be required on a 5V signal.

is Chinese? or American?

Asked by: ManuBramuel
Hi Manu, thank you so much for contacting us. This Auto Gage tach is designed, engineered, assembled, calibrated, and tested in the US using components sourced from China. The AutoMeter line are the American made units. Here is a link to the AutoMeter equivalent tach: https://www.autometer.com/5-tach-10-000-rpm-shift-lite-sport-comp.html Hope this helps!

I have an auto gauge tachometer by autometer that will not Return to Zero is this repairable or am I missing something about adjusting it, also if there is a repair facility could you give me a phone number or address or someone to talk to thank you

Asked by: David 52
Hi David, thank you for connecting with us. This may require some additional troubleshooting with our Technical Support Team. Some models never actually read zero, since they go into shift-set mode with 12V supplied and will begin reading RPM once a signal is supplied. Give us a ring at 866.248.6356, hit the Chat link at the top of the page or you can email us here: http://www.autometer.com/resources/index/ask_a_question If you'd like to send it in for evaluation, you can use the information provided on this form: http://www.autometer.com/media/Service_Form.pdf

I have had this tach for about 3 months installed on my truck. It skips and jumps right at 2300 and 3600. Do you warrant this problem or maybe recalibrate my tach?

Asked by: Sallisawjim
Hi there, thank you for connecting with us. This will likely require some additional dialogue and troubleshooting with our Technical Support Team. I would recommend sending us an email with a detailed explanation of the problem you're experiencing, and information on the make, model, and year of the vehicle, and the ignition. Here is the link to email us. http://www.autometer.com/resources/index/ask_a_question You can also give us a ring at 866.248.6356 or hit the Chat link at the top of the page.

What color is the outside is it chrome ? was wanting something like this in a chrome casing.

Asked by: eddie
Hi Eddie. Thank you for the question. This model features a black backing or cup and the mounting strap is silver to match the bezel. We won't have any 5" chrome tachometers in the automotive line. Only a 3-3/8" model like this 2895 http://www.autometer.com/3-3-4-tach-8-000-rpm-street-chrome.html Or a 2-5/8" option like this 2893: http://www.autometer.com/2-5-8-tach-8-000-rpm-mini-chrome.html
