Will this tach read a signal from GM LS engine ECU/M without using a pull up resistor? Tach dips will be set on 2 pulse 4cyl.Thank you for your question. Yes, that should certainly work. I have this 4498, and it's hooked up to a MSD 6a box. hired out the wiring, anyway it doesn't work. I have the msd 6a, 4498, msd 836, msd blaster coil. The guy who wired my car does it professional (cough cough) and everything is hard wired. Solution???Thank you for contacting us. The MSD ignitions are one the most compatible ignitions with our tachometers. Make sure the tachometer is getting the signal from the tach output on the MSD, make sure you have 12V to the tachometer, but also make sure you have a solid engine ground. The ground is critical since it's also a ground reference for signal. The tachometer normally does not sit on zero due to the air-core movement, so you should expect to see the tachometer zero out when power is supplied. Otherwise, this may require some additional troubleshooting. Hi can you use a shift light with this tacho? If so which one?Hi Frank, thank you so much for contacting us. This particular tach does not have the capability of controlling a shift light, though you could very easily use one of our DPSS intelligent lights, such as this one: https://www.autometer.com/black-dpss-tube-level-1.html These units can read and interpret an RPM signal on their own and don't require a tach as a controller.
