hi how do I change the color of the light. I have the 2 colored plastic pieces , and no idea where they go. my other gauges have a hole and bulb. thanks for any help murrayThank you for your question. On the back of your speedometer there is a black cap covering a hole in the casing. You can use a small flat head screwdriver to pop that cap off of the hole. Directly inside the opening you will see the back of your light bulb/socket. That light is our part number 3212, and you twist it to remove it from the circuit board and take it out of the gauge. At this point you can put your light boots over the bulb or remove the bulb and replace it with a T3 wedge LED replacement, and then when you are finished just twist it back into place on the circuit board and put the black cover back over the hole in the casing.Date published: 2018-12-20
Can this be used in addition to the 2-1/16" DPSS SHIFT-LIGHT, 0-16,000 RPM, LEVEL 1, ULTRA-LITE. I like this ultra-lite tach, but ideally would like an in dash shift light to go along with it. Any suggestions?Hi Chris, thank you for the question. Yes, you can run a DPSS along with the 4497 and most any other AutoMeter tachometer. You also have the option of running a 5312 DPSS RPM Switch and this can trigger any 12V light that you add to your dash or a 5330 style light.Date published: 2018-11-01
I got a ultra-lite tach, but when replacing the engine to a modern LS, it doesn’t work. Do I need the 9117 then?Hi Tomas, thank you so much for contacting us. The short answer is maybe. Typically when LS computers are flashed, the tach signal can be degraded or eliminated altogether. Sometimes you can use a pull up resistor to get the signal from the computer to work. We write about it in detail starting on page 7 of this manual: https://www.autometer.com/media/manual/2650-1563.pdf There is always a possibility that the signal is completely gone depending on how the computer was modded. In these instances, the 9117 tach adapter will always get the job done. Does the ATM-4497 include the wiring harness as it is not mentioned on the package contents?Hi Roger, no wiring or harness included. Many complete aftermarket harnesses feature the proper connector, like our 2198, but this is designed for an entire set of 6 instruments. Otherwise, the 4497 features 1/4" blade terminals on the back for the connections. What signal does this tachometer require? Would it work with a 12V square wave signal from an aftermarket ECU?Hi Roger, thank you for the question. Yes, 12V square wave is the standard signal that our tachometers will read. Some will even trigger down to a 5V square wave. Our in dash tachs typically do not have the ability to control a shift light, and this model is no exception. Otherwise, with a conventional in dash tach you'd want to use one of our intelligent shift lights.
