Does this guage fit a diesel engine? And does it have calibration setting?Thank you for your question. This tach will not work on a diesel engine by itself. You will need to use this tach with our diesel tach adapter #9112 to work on a diesel application.Date published: 2019-03-29
HOW TO CALIBRATE FOR 4 CYLINDERS? AutoMeter Sport-Comp Mini Tachometers 3708Hi Polo, thank you for the question. Many years ago our 3708 mini tachometer had small brown and orange looped wires and you would clip both the brown and orange wire for a 4 cylinder, 2 pulse. If you have an older model, that may be what you have. Currently, and for the last several years, the 3708 has featured a removable cup and cap that will allow access to a set of dip switches. Here are details on the current method of cylinder selection: https://www.autometer.com/media/manual/2650-595X.pdfDate published: 2018-08-28
I have a GMC 427 with a MSD 6a box I hooked my Auto Meter sport comp tach. to the grey tach wire. the tach does not work. it worked until i put in the new box Volt meter reads around 5V. Help?Hi Timothy, thank you for the question. Our Sport Comp tachometers are fully compatible with an MSD 6A ignition box. This will certainly require some additional dialogue and troubleshooting with our Technical Support Team. Can this tach be flush mounted in a floor console?Hi Ron, thank you so much for contacting us. The base of the mount for this tach does have provisions to sink screws or bolts into, so you would be able to pretty easily mount it to a floor console. Hope this helps!Date published: 2018-08-01
Will 3708 work with standard GM HEI ignition signal?Hi Rusty, thank you so much for contacting us. Our tach should work perfectly getting its signal directly from the tach output terminal on a standard HEI ignition. Hope this helps!Date published: 2018-06-11
Can the 2-5/8" tach be mounted in a 2-5/8" gauge mounting panel?Thank you so much for contacting us. Unfortunately, the housing on this instrument is slightly larger than an in-dash gauge and would prevent it from being installed in a 2-5/8" gauge panel. Sorry for the bad news.Date published: 2018-02-19
Hello Will your 3708 and 3780 models work on a mopar electronic ignition distributor connected to an MSD6A box? If so, how do you connect the tach? ThanksHi Denis, thank you for connecting with us. Yes, our 3708 and 3780 Tachometers are compatible with your MSD box. For the signal you will want to connect to the tach output terminal on the MSD box.Date published: 2018-01-24
I have an old 3708 tach I want to use on a 6 cyl chevy. Wiring question - green to coil, red to 12 volts, black to ground, white to lite. Clip brown wire, leave orange loop connected. Does that sound right? Thanks DonThank you so much for contacting us. It sounds like you've got everything right on the wiring. The only caveat would be if you're using an MSD box (or similar) in your ignition system, you want to hook the green wire to the tach output on the box rather than the coil (the tach could be damaged otherwise). Hope this helps!Date published: 2017-12-15
